Looking for a New Home for Cruzer

Cruzer is a gorgeous  five-month-old Rescue (mom was rescued pregnant and he was in a foster home since birth)   His breed is unknown, but we think there's Springer Spaniel and Border Collie in the mix. He is white with black spots and cute freckles on his snout. He currently weighs 48 pounds, is neutered and is fully vaccinated.

Cruzer is very sweet and friendly 99% of the time. He goes to the park daily and has never appeared aggressive with strangers or other dogs.

At home, he is territorial and aggressively treat guards. He came to us at ten weeks and we were first time dog owners.  We noticed at an early age that Cruzer would growl and snap or bite if we pulled on his collar or tried to take something from him, so we stopped these "triggers". We thought his behavior had improved, when in reality, Cruzer had just "trained us" and had learned that this type of behavior gets him what he wants.

He recently did a few things that made us feel concerned for our safety, so we scheduled an evaluation with Pia Silvani at St.  Hubert's.   She felt that he was too unpredictable to remain in a home with children.  She said that he is not an aggressive dog, but that he has some aggressive behaviors that could and most likely will escalate.  She recommends aggression rehabilitation, but even with that, she did not feel comfortable with the idea of  returning him to a home with kids. (Full report is available here)

We love him so much and we're heart-broken.   We are looking for a new home for him, preferably with someone who has experience dealing with some aggressive behaviors.

Please spread the word if you think you may know the right person.
